River City Big Band

River City Big Band is a jazz band based in Edmonton, Alberta.
The project began with the design of a vinyl package for their upcoming album, The Planets.

The concept explores a sense of movement and imagination. I created an instrumental rocket assembled from the various instruments featured in the album, imagining it as a vehicle traveling through time and space.

The band connected strongly with this idea and later proposed to extend it into their identity. The logo distills the illustration into a more minimal and structured form, maintaining the character of the original concept.
